Product DescriptionBrand New Genuine Retail Package Aliph Jawbone Icon Series - The Bombshell - Bluetooth Headset, In beautiful gold!!! This is Aliph's latest, lightest, newest and most stylish series of Bluetooth Headsets ever!
MyTALK Brings ICON to Life. Introducing our most significant innovation since NoiseAssassin®. You can now dynamically update and personalize each individual Jawbone ICON with an array of convenient apps. Connect to Multiple Phones
Simultaneous Multipoint means that your Jawbone ICON can manage two calls from two different phones at the same time. For example, you can be on a call with your personal phone and then answer a call on your work phone and seamlessly switch between each call. Jawbone ICON handles the experience with the simplicity of traditional call-waiting. Originally developed for military use in tanks and helicopters, NoiseAssassin 2.5 with wind reduction is a proprietary technology that eliminates background noise. Jawbone ICON is the only Bluetooth headset with a Voice Activity Sensor (VAS) that actually feels your speech, which helps Jawbone ICON distinguish your voice from background noise. Jawbone ICON's NoiseAssassin has even better background noise elimination than its predecessor Jawbone 2, CNETs Highest Rated Headset ever. So take that call with confidence no matter where you are.
Most Recent Customer ReviewsDate : 2010-03-06 Summary : The Icon is great, the earpiece kills me, try this Pro:
I bought the Icon as a replacement for the original Jawbone I got several years ago. So far I am very happy with the Icon, no one has mentioned a word about the voice quality, even over lengthy (45 minute) calls while I'm driving in traffic. I also like the fact that this unit not only speaks the incoming phone number but also can give me an indication as to the remaining battery life.
Con:
I had the same issue with this model that I had with the original. The earpiece fit drove me absolutely crazy. Either it was too loose to maintain decent contact with my face (and thus the noise assassin was useless) or after about a half hour my ear hurt so much I felt like someone was pushing a stick into my scull.
My solution for the Icon is the same I employed for the original jawbone: dump the painfully offending design of the Aliph earpiece, and substitute the gel earpiece I loved from an old Jabra headset. I bought these: JABRA OEM MINIGELS and use these in place of the foam torture piece that ships with the Jawbone. They slip on and fit perfectly. Personally I like the long one which slips in my ear and gives a great snug fit and is only about 10% as bothersome over time as the foam pieces that ship with the Jawbone Icon. They work even better with the Icon than they did with the original jawbone, and unlike the original jawbone, switching from left ear to right ear if they do start hurting is much easier.
Date : 2010-02-28 Summary : aliph recall I have owned at least one of every jawbone made. The company has become a nightmare of poor design, bad or absent customer service, poor quality control,
Week 3 with Jawbone icon. No earloop with original package, no reply from support after 2nd inquiry, lack of volume control design sucks, now volume just drops off mid call to whisper, oh sorry cannot download updater dns error please contact us so we can forget to respond with another fix that will not work, and oh sorry we cannot respond because you wrote us from a different email address, oh sorry we need the serial number that takes an electron microscope to read. and oh sorry no industry standard a2dp, oh sorry we know the auto volume fails but you can fix it with the updater that will not install on your computer.
Date : 2010-02-25 Summary : Thought I was getting lemons... I bought my Icon in the bestbuy store online and exchanged it twice in 2 different bestbuy stores (in 2 different citys) thinking maybe I just got a bad one. But 3 different ones? the noise reduction does seem to be working because ive tested it with a friends phone with the noise assassin on (which is default) and turning it off. It just doesn't seem to work well.. The wind reduction doesnt appear to work at all though, faning the headset with my hand even picks up, outside is almost a lost cause.
Well it sounds good when im indoors so long as there isnt much noise. And I like the fit, I can feel it there but it doesnt get uncofortable untill a few hours have gone by.
P.S. Before I get any hate comments im not a Jawbone hater I was really hoping for this to be good, I mentioned exchanging it twice for a total of 3 headset ive tried out. I could just be doing something wrong, the sensor does touch my face, so its nothing simple like that.
"Update" I'm still having a little trouble in direct wind but going down the highway at 55 mph with the back windows down sounds great and I had trouble hearing myself very well. Also some of the problems I was having didn't seem to be with the micraphone but more with the bluetooth "conection" itself (I'm not sure now if its the headset or my phone, a BB Storm 2).
But more importantly to me and why I raised review from 2 stars to 4 was because I connected it to my pc with a dongle and set the headset to be used with Tom Clancey's EndWar (a voice controlled RTS game)and it worked PERECT! I don't know if thats big for many people but I like games alot and im very pleased to know I can use this for fun and games as well as calls.
Date : 2010-02-23 Summary : fantastic I have used a jabra, plantronics 610, plantronics 520, blue ant z9, two blue ant v1's and none of them compare to the icon. I have been very happy with the way it controls the sound. I have called my office several times and left messages for myself so I could listen to them when I got back. The most amazing one was last week in the snow storm. I was out on my kubota using a snowblower and when I listened to my voicemail I could hear myself very well. Unbelievable, I could barely hear the tractor running. I just can't believe it. I would never even consider making a call with that much noise going on but did it just to try. Very happy.
Date : 2010-02-22 Summary : The toughest quietest bluetooth on earth... PERIOD!!! Ok to start off I couldn't wait to buy this guy online so I rushed out to Beast Buy and picked it up. I have owned a first gen jawbone and the jawbone II as well... The jawbone II suffered ear barrel breakage... Did I mention I'm death on a headset? Well the first 4 days with icon were bluetooth bliss... No more wind noise, no more anything... Way better noise assassin than that of the jawbone 2 or the prime. I only compare this jawbone to other jawbones... simply because there is no other headset to compare a jawbone to... they are that good. So alas I was shoveling snow and noticed my headset was not in my ear. OMG it was brand new. Well it lost connection to my phone and I started like a mad man raking through 16 inches of snow I had piled up into 3-5 foot tall hills... No luck :( So I tried again for 3 days and it kept snowing so it was hopeless... My jawbone was in a snowy grave... I then bought another one just because they are that good. Well today the temp was 62 degrees and all the snow melted. Low and behold I found my fallen jawbone at the edge of my yard. This is hopeless right? WRONG!!! It charged right up and paired perfectly with my wife's phone. Now she too has a jawbone icon.. If that isn't the testament to the best bluetooth in the world you tell me what is? I could talk about how it fits and how awesome the call quality is and the battery life, etc... but hey if you are looking here you know what you are looking at. These bluetooth headsets are very comfortable and come with many ways to customize it. The on of switch and sensibly placed button are improvements over recent models. I still think a jabra mini gel ear bud is better than the included gels; but to each his own. All I'm saying is; unless you physically break the thing; the electronics will NEVER FAIL!!! Kudos Aliph on another stellar product.
