Cars in India

India emerged as a winner from the recent financial downturn. The Indian car market remained unharmed. Now, after it’s all over, analysts predict tremendous car sales in the country. The last financial year that ended in March 2010 witnessed record sales for most car makers in India. However, there was none that could beat the unbeatable Maruti Suzuki which has been royally occupying the top space in the car market. Over 50 per cent of the cars sold in India roll out of Maruti Suzuki dealerships.

The two wheeler users have already begun moving towards the four wheelers. Such car buyers who look for the entry level models usually come from middle class Indian families. They would want the luxury of a car, but at an affordable price. Cars like the Tata India, Maruti Suzuki Alto, Nissan Micra, Hyundai Santo and a few others are thus a blessing to the average car buyer in India. The Alto, no wonder, bags the highest number of car sales in the country. Around 25,000 Alto units get sold every month.

The hatchback segment does not lie far behind. With the launch of plenty of cars in the segment in the past few months, the segment has been a boon to car makers. We had the launch of simple yet sophisticated vehicles equipped with all the advanced features. The Ford Figo, Volkswagen Polo and the Maruti Suzuki Wagon are most recent entries and have been alluring quite a big number of buyers in India. The specialty of all these cars lies in the cost. In spite of the ground-breaking technologies they carry, they are very light on the average Indian’s pocket.

The next segment that has begun gaining importance of late is the mini MPV segment. We have the Maruti Suzuki Eeco and Omni. These cars again are priced just right for the Indian car buyer. Very soon the three-way joint venture of SAIC-GM-Waling will be bringing in the Sunshine, Sail and Hong Guang. Many more cars from other manufacturers are believed to make their entry too.

Coming to the luxury car segment, it certainly looks like India is growing richer by the day. Luxury cars too have been witnessing surging sales figures. Recently we had the Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 SV, the Mercedes Benz E-Class Coupe, the Volkswagen Phaeton and many more making their debut on the roads in India. BMW too had its share of luxury car launches.

The Reasons and Need for Car Salesman Training

When you are starting out to sell cars your Car Salesman Training is an important part of your transition from consumer to car sales person. You might be surprised how much is involved in the process of selling cars and it should not be taken lightly. In the U.S. alone there are 12-17 million new cars sold each year and probably close to the same amount of used cars. No matter how you look at those numbers, that is a lot of cars being sold every year. For that reason alone the subject of car sales training is taken very seriously. It has been studied, tested and improved continuously over the years and continues to evolve today.

Car salesman training is actually an ongoing process if you want to stay current with the market and it is one of those subjects where the professional auto salesman can never have enough training and motivation. The ideal situation is to subject the auto salesman to some sort of training or motivation each and every day that they work the sales floor. You see the process of selling automobiles is so much more than letting a customer pick out a car and make a purchase.

Why Car Salesman Training

It has been said that 80% of the people that visit a car dealership and look at cars are going to buy a car in the next three days. Now when you consider that the average car dealer has a 20% closing ratio and you start to think about those numbers it could only mean that the car buyer is visiting multiple dealers. If they are visiting multiple dealers that could only mean that they are considering other brands, but in many cases there are visiting other dealers of the same brand. Since that is the case it must mean that there is a need for more car salesman training.

In the industry we say that they finally buy a car when they come across and good car salesman. That might be a little sarcastic, but there is a lot of truth to that statement. Some people buy a car at the first dealer they visit and some people call and go to several dealers before they buy a car. There is obviously a reason for this behavior; it might be available vehicle selection, the belief that they could get a better deal somewhere else or any number of reasons. One of those reasons in many situations is that the vehicle salesman could have done a better job. After all you can buy a car almost anywhere today, so we could only assume that the car salesman did not show the value of buying from him and his dealership.

The Art of Buying a Used Car

The internet has made the entire process of buying a car used or new an enjoyable experience. To begin with, the net allows you to become well informed about the latest trends in the used car market. Moreover, you don’t have to deal with an annoying car salesman right from the beginning. All you need to do is go to websites and surf through thousands of used cars for sale without having to leave home. Believe it or not, the feeling of you being in control of the situation rather than the car salesman is exhilarating. Besides, you can have fun setting up one dealer against the other in order to grab the best deal.

When buying a car used it is essential to determine the current value, which is easily available online. It is important to check four or five websites in order to determine the retail value. Most sites may vary a bit; nevertheless, you will have an approximation to go by. The secret to buying a car used is to schedule your purchase towards the end of the month. This is when dealerships offer incentives and much more in a bid to get the cars off their parking lot. Try putting in a lower offer around this time and you may get a much more receptive response.

Don’t rush to the dealer immediately when you find a car that suits your fancy. Make a phone call and let the salesman know of your intention to buy the car within the next three days. Make sure you follow the same pattern with three or four dealers, set up the negotiations, and let each one know that you are negotiating with other dealers too. The one who is really keen on selling will probably close a favorable deal with you in a matter of hours. While discussing the price make it clear to the dealer that you will not pay any dealer or any extra fees, since this is not a norm, even though they may insist that everyone does.

The Pros and Cons of Operating an Electric Vehicle

An electric vehicle appears identical to a regular vehicle on the outside but internally it is powered by an electric motor and has no need for oil or diesel fuel. Electric cars are much more friendlier to the environment. An electric car requires charging. This is done using a charger that has been specially built so as to not damage the car’s electric cells. Charging the vehicle normally takes a few hours.

With new technological advances, the amount of time that it takes to charge a vehicle is constantly decreasing while the duration of time that it can run without being charged is dramatically increasing. The average charging time is currently five hours. These vehicles are likely to become a lot more popular over the next few years. Hopefully as this happens it will lead to them becoming more affordable and accessible to majority of consumers. The idea of not having to go to a gas station is quite appealing to the majority of consumers. The main concern with electric vehicles is the possibility of being stranded somewhere without a charging station for any miles.

It also takes quite a significant time to recharge the batteries, which is why JFE Engineering of Japan has come up with a quick battery charger that takes only 3 minutes to charge a car battery to 50% of its capacity, while waiting around for another 2 minutes will hit a 70% charge. JFE conducted tests with the device, seeing Mitsubishi’s electric car i-MiEV go as far as 80km after just a 5-minute charge. These chargers are expected to arrive at gas stations and convenience stores throughout Japan prior to March 2011.
